Robertsport

Who would have ever thought that I'd be laying on the beach in the capital city of my mother's home county! I imagine my grandfather and grandmother were on this same beach together at some point enjoying the sound of the water crashing against the rocks and praying not to spot a Mami Wata in the stillness of the night...it was a glorious time.

This weekend I went to Robertsport for the first time. It was breathtakingly, amazing. I had an opportunity to relax on the sand, practice my photography, chug bottles of wine straight from the bottle with a friend, speak small Vai (my mother's native tongue), have a small photo shoot in front of the vividly painted cabins at Nana's Beach Lodge and Resort, and walk the farthest away from the shore I've ever been before! I let go and let God, I enjoyed a s'more made by a glorious beach fire, got lost in stimulating conversation on the 2.5 hour ride away from the city, and made new friends!  Oh, I got my toenails unintentionally painted by Liberia's "#3 Senior Championship Surfer"!  All is well that ends well. Thanking the universe for moments like these. Cheers to Grand Cape Mount, Friends, Laughter, Tears, and the most refreshing, revitalizing power of Water over Rocks!
